Nigeria’s Service Chief at a close-door session told the House of Representatives Committee on Defence that there was an international dimension to the insurgency and other security challenges confronting Nigeria. The committee’s chairman, Babajimi Benson who briefed newsmen after the session said the service chiefs raised a lot of issues, which one of them is that there is probably an international dimension to what is happening. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, said the service chiefs and the National Assembly had agreed to work together towards ending insecurity. Also the National Assembly is the need to meet and discuss these issues which was the reason the service chiefs were invited on the security situation in the country, and of course the way forward.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC has cautioned transport operators against altering with the calibrated speed limiting devices in their vehicles for economic benefits or other purposes. The Corps warned them to either desist from such act or risk impoundment of their vehicles and subsequent compulsory re-installation and calibration of such speed limiters. FRSC Spokesperson Bisi Kazeem, in a statement quoted the Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, as issuing a direct instruction to the zonal commanding officers, sector commanders and unit commanders across the country. He also directed that any vehicle held in the act be impounded and the driver be prosecuted.
