The Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC has reiterated its commitment to establishing digital libraries in basic education schools across the country in addition to offering cost effective ways of bringing educational resources to learners and teachers.

The National Coordinator of the UBEC Digital Resource Center, Bashir Galadanci, gave the assurance while declaring open a 3-day training workshop on Digital Library and Education Resource Management at the UBEC Digital Resource Center in Abuja.

Galadanci, who represented the UBEC Executive Secretary, noted that digital libraries had brought about diverse, multiple and exciting media formats including videos, games, and interactive simulations.

In her welcome remarks, the head of Capacity Building at the UBEC DRC, Hafsat L. Kontagora, stated that the training was designed to enhance the understanding of the role of digital libraries and educational resources in Smart Education delivery and provide hands-on experience in organising, categorising, and managing digital content.

She added that the workshop was aimed at improving the skill sets of smart school teachers and ICT personnel and equipping them with the necessary knowledge to manage digital libraries and utilise educational resources effectively in order to engender positive teaching and learning outcomes.
