The Borno State Police command says the curfew and ban imposed on firecrackers are in force to guarantee a hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebration in the state.

The State’s  Police Spokesperson Edet Okon who made this known in a statement in Maiduguri said the command had enlightened the people on the need to observe the existing curfew, ban and other acts capable of disturbing the peace during and after the festivity.

Okon called on worshipers to surrender themselves for security checkup that might be required at various places of worship and to be careful of the curfew rules during watch-night services on New Year’s eve.

The Police Spokesman also urged parents and guardians to monitor their children to avoid the incident of missing persons during the yuletide. He also called on the people to be vigilant and report suspicious persons and movements to security agencies.
