The Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan, Archbishop Gabriel Abegunrin has called on Nigerians to shun all forms of selfishness but forgive others in order not to mar their souls, as Christians celebrate Christmas.
He gave the advice in an interview with journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo
state capital.
Abegunrin called on Christians to remember that they were celebrating
God himself, so they should give him their best and open their hearts to
welcome him. He added that they should clear their minds from all forms
of animosity, hatred, and selfishness.
Also, Pastor Vincent Ajiboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God,
RCCG, Jesus Assembly, said Christmas should be a time to spread the
gospel to the lost sheep. According to him, Jesus is a good shepherd who
came for the lost sheep and commissioned Christians to go after the lost
sheep as well.
Ajiboye explained that 2021 had been a very challenging year, so
Christian faithful at this time should constantly appreciate God and be
thankful to him for his mercy, protection and preservation of their lives.
The Pastor also urged church leaders not to lose focus and not be
deceived.
