The Plateau state Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has deployed 1,500 personnel to ensure peaceful and crime-free Christmas and new year celebrations in the state.
Spokesman of the command, DSC Chris Longbit, who announced this
in a statement in Jos, also explained that the deployment was not to
intimidate the public but to curb crime and criminality in the state during
the festivities.
He added that men deployed would be stationed at flashpoints, adding
that they would be expected to promptly respond to emergencies.
Longbit also assured residents that the corps and other security agencies
in the state had put in place all the necessary strategies to ensure hitch
free celebrations, and enjoined all law-abiding citizens to go about their
lawful businesses and avoid crimes.
The Spokesman however, advised residents to report all suspicious
movements by individuals or groups capable of causing chaos to the
security agencies for prompt response.
