The Nigeria Consul in Johannesburg, Godwin Adama disclosed this to newsmen in a telephone conversation from Johannesburg, on Friday.

Adama said that the Nigerian Mission in South Africa condemned the unwarranted violent looting and burning of Nigerian businesses and investment in the country.

He said that Nigerian businesses were seriously affected in the crisis fuelled by the death of the driver allegedly caused by a Tanzanian in Pretoria but erroneously attributed to a Nigerian.

Adama said that with the impact of the attack, as much as millions of dollars, were lost by various Nigerian businessmen.

He, however, appealed to Nigerians in the country to remain calm stressing that the mission was on top of the situation and would address it holistically.

The Consul-General urged them not to take laws into their hands but allow the law to take its course as some arrests had been made already.
