FRSC Says 60% Of Road Crashes Occurred At Night

The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC has called for collaboration with the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW to address the issue of night driving.

The FRSC Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi stated this at the occasion of the 9th quadrennial delegate conference of the NURTW in Abuja.

He advised the union to collaborate with the FRSC by participating in a training programme, as most drivers who drive at night do not see clearly and that is why most the crashes are fatal at night, adding that sixty per cent of road crashes mostly occurred at night.

Oyeyemi urged the union to also network with the Corps on the need to organize a training programme for their drivers.  He urged the union to ensure motorists embrace the speed limiter device.

On his part, the Union’s outgoing National President, Najeem Yasin said since the inception of the union forty one years ago, it has never had a peaceful transition like the present one.
