The National Orientation Agency NOA today commenced a two-day workshop for better protection of children against violence and exploitation in Kaduna State.
The workshop which opened in Zaria aims to update stakeholders with information on the current situation of Violence Against Children VAC in the state.
The traditional and religious leaders, Civil Society groups and other relevant stakeholders are participating in the workshop.
The state Director of NOA Zubair Galadima-Soba, said the agency was interested in changing the attitude of the perpetrators of VAC in the state.
Galadima-Soba expressed concern over the rampant cases of violence against children in parts of the state.
He said there are several reported cases where children were neglected and abandoned to fend for themselves by their parents.
The director also expressed concern on the increasing cases of rape of minors by adults in the society.
