The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has ordered Police Commissioners to confiscate vehicles illegally using ‘Spy’ number plates, sirens, revolving lights or covered number plates.
The Force’s spokesman, Frank Mba, who announced this in a statement in Abuja, said the Police Boss gave the directive at a working visit by the Corps-Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi.
Adamu also ordered the Police Commissioners to ensure prosecution of the offenders, saying the practices are illegal and pose monumental security risks to the nation and the citizens.
The Police chief also pledged the commitment of the Force to sustain the existing partnership between the Police and the FRSC in the areas of operations, training, intelligence sharing and prosecution of offenders.
In his remark, the Corps-Marshal said the visit was to ensure improved collaboration between the Police and the FRSC in key operational areas.
