Unresolved Issues: Resident Doctors Suspend 63 Days Old Strike

The National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD has call-off its 63 days old strike, after deliberation with its National Executive Council, NEC.

National President of the association Godiya Ishaya, who announced that the suspension of the industrial action is expected to take effect on Wednesday, 6th of October, noted that the decision to suspend was reached after review of the progress the government had made on their demands. He said the decision was taken after a meeting with the delegates of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA and NARD.

Ishaya noted that NMA mandated the National Officers Committee, NOC, to ensure the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed with the federal government on August 21.

It would be recalled that the doctors have embarked on a nationwide indefinite strike action since the 2nd of August 2021 following a disagreement with the Federal Government over some unresolved issues.
