A team of 22 Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SANs in Supreme Court to address the legality or otherwise of the argumentative Executive Order 10 issued by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The lawyers arrived the Court on the invitation of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, as friends of the court to make suggestions that will guide the Apex Court in making a well-informed verdict on the issue.
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had issued Executive Order 10 backing financial autonomy to the arm of the judiciary at the state level as well as the state legislature, which became contentious following objections by the state Governors.
The Governors however, instituted a suit at the Apex to challenge its legality
The Senior Advocates of Nigeria led by two former Presidents of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Adegboyega Awomolo and Olisa Agbakoba, are to argue on the legality or otherwise of the Executive Order.
