Three Killed As Gunmen Attack Imo INEC Headquarters

Operatives from the Imo State Police Command on Monday killed three gunmen who attacked the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in the State.

Spokesperson of the Command, Michael Abattam, however said the gunmen killed one policeman and injured one in the gun duel that lasted for an hour, and which kept the residents of Owerri, the State capital awake throughout the night.

He added that five rifles, two vehicles, charms, locally-made bombs, phones and money were recovered from the slain gunmen.

Abattam explained that the gunmen attacked the INEC headquarters in Owerri around 3am and also threw bombs on the roof of the building, but unfortunately for them, they were resisted by the Police personnel who were guarding the place.
