Sokoto Govt. Restates Commitment To Partner On Social Protection Policies –TWG Chair

The Chairman, Sokoto state Technical Working Group TWG on social protection Arzika Usman-Bodinga, has reiterated government’s commitment to a robust partnership with the United Nations joint Sustainable Development Goals SDG programme.

Usman-Bodinga, who is also the Permanent Secretary, Sokoto state Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, said the partnership was aimed at enhancing social protection programmes across the state.

He made the remarks at the closing of a 3-day stakeholder workshop on the development of a draft social protection policy, in Birinin Kebbi.

Usman-Bodinga commended the donors, comprising United Nations Children and Education Funds UNICEF, International Labour Organisation ILO United Nations Development Programme UNDP and World Food Programme WFO for their respective roles in the partnership.

He expressed optimism that the current joint SDG social protection programme in the state would change peoples’ lives and ensure that citizens accessed the right support from the Federal, state governments and other supporting institutions.

According to him, the policy will also facilitate proper coordination of supporting platforms as well as enhance the social register of citizens.
