The Federal Government has maintained that all teachers in the country must register before the December 31st deadline set by the National Council on Education, NCE. It added that the teachers must register and get certified by the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria, TRCN, or get kicked out of the system.
The Registrar, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, Josiah Ajiboye who made this known in Abuja, said the Council had successfully registered over two million teachers while about one-point-eight million of them had been captured in a clean databank, following the early crash of the Council’s database.
He noted that the period of using teaching job as political patronage is over, adding that all those who are not qualified to teach in the nation’s schools would be struck out.The Registrar explained that the deadline is set and that certain things were put in place, particularly for those who were not qualified; because the fear was about those who were not qualified to be able to correct their deficiencies
