The Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF has accused the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, of alleged involvement in the scandalous 418 million dollars request by consultants on the Paris Club refund.
Head of Media and Public Affairs of the Forum Abdulrazaq Bello-Barkindo made the allegation in a statement issued in Abuja.
It would be recalled that an Abuja High Court had last Friday halted the Federal Government from deducting 418 million dollars from the bank accounts of the 36 states of the federation.
Barkindo however said the decision of the Justice Minister to throw its weight behind the consultants who had been battling desperately to grab 418 million dollars from the accounts of states and local governments raised questions of propriety and spirit of justice.
The Forum’s Spokesman said Malami’s claim that he intervened to pay the contractors to avoid execution of the judgments against the federal government resources was false. He also noted that the state and local governments sought to transfer their liability to the federal government, adding that there was no liability to transfer in the first place and that none existed.
