Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Federal Government to uncover masterminds of attack on the Abuja residence of Justice Mary Odili.

Wike, while addressing newsmen in Abuja, described the siege as an assassination attempt on the life of Odili, who is a Justice of the Supreme Court. He said recent developments surrounding the family of Peter Odili called for worries from Nigerians.

The Governor also explained that if within 48 hours nothing was done, the government of Rivers State would take the necessary steps to seek justice.

However, Security agencies have denied their role, while the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, also washed his hands off it. It would be recalled that last Friday, the residence of Odili was invaded by security agents controlled by the Federal Government.

Also, the House of Representatives, while reacting, called for an inquest into the attack. Chairman, House Committee on Judiciary, Onofiok Luke, in a statement, condemned the incident and pledged support for effort that would ensure the sanctity of the judiciary.
