North-East: ISWAP Regrouping Around Lake Chad, Ndume Warns

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army Mohammed Ali Ndume says members of Islamic State in West Africa Province, ISWAP are regrouping around the Lake Chad Basin in Borno State.

He also condemned Saturday’s killing of Brigadier General Dzarma Zirkusu by ISWAP terrorists around Chibok area of the state, saying the death of the soldiers is a big blow to the insurgency war and sympathies with the Nigerian Army.

The Senator added that or residents of Chibok town were already relocating since the killing of the General.

In another development, the Coalition of Northern Group, CNG has called on its students’ wing to shelve the protest against the 14 kidnap victims in Zaria, Kaduna State, saying the bandits had made contact with their families over payment of ransom.

Spokesman of the group Abdulazeez Suleiman said it has come to the notice of CNG that the kidnappers of the 14 Zaria Local Council staff have finally made contact with families of the captors separately on Friday afternoon.
