The NEWS TEAM WISHES YOU A PLEASANT LISTENING TIME LEAVING YOU WITH THIS LIBERTY QUOTE: “When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful.” – Malala Yousafzai No Plan To Remove INEC Chairman – Femi Adesina

The Federal Government has refuted speculations of a plan to sack the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Mahmood Yakubu and stop the use of the Bi-modal Voter Registration System, BVAS in the 2023 general elections.

Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina stated this at a policy dialogue programme organised to mark the 2022 International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists, IDEI, in Abuja. The policy dialogue has the theme; “Media, Civil Society and Violence-free Election in Nigeria”.

He also advised journalists not to give attention to people with hiding intentions to disrupt the 2023 elections by spreading rumours, recalling that President Muhammadu Buhari at a meeting in Imo state urged the police to ensure the 2023 general election is credible.

Adesina said while the President has always described his commitment to credible polls, the media, the electoral management body and other stakeholders have critical roles to play to achieve that.

Earlier in his remarks, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, assured that the Federal Government is committed to supporting journalists in discharging their social and constitutionally guaranteed responsibility.
