Politician and former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has urged the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPCL, to provide clarity and accountability to Nigerians over the operations of the newly launched Port Harcourt Refinery.

The Port Harcourt Refining Company Ltd commenced operations in Rivers State after several failed deadlines by the management of the NNPCL. The move ends a series of failed deadlines for the commencement of production at the refinery in Nigeria’s oil-rich Rivers State.

Reacting to the development, Obi, however, said that although the resuscitation of the facility was a welcomed development, it was important for NNPCL to come clean about its operations.

He also commended NNPCL for the great feat. The refinery, which comes on stream today, boasts an installed production capacity of 60,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
