NLDEA breaks up drug syndicates

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has dismantled two major drug trafficking syndicates operating across borders, arresting six key cartel leaders in the process.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the syndicates, involving Nigerians from Mubi, Adamawa; Onitsha, Anambra; and Lagos, as well as Cameroonians, were identified as major suppliers of drugs to terror groups in Nigeria and Cameroon.

Key figures arrested include Ibrahim Bawuro, Najib Ibrahim, Nelson Udechukwu Anayo, Ezeh Amaechi Martin, and Adejumo Ishola.

The arrests followed intelligence operations that tracked the movement of psychoactive substances like tramadol, which were smuggled from Onitsha to the North and Cameroon.
