Narcotics: NDLEA Arrests 72-Yrs Man, Five Undergraduates Over 5,000kg Of Hard Drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has arrested a 72-year-old man Emmanuel Akanbi and five undergraduate students’ suspects in week-long raids to seize hard drugs.

NDLEA’s Director, Media and Advocacy Femi Babafemi in a statement in Abuja said the operations across nine states and at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos yielded over 5,000 kilogrammes of marijuana also called Indian hemp and other drugs.

He added that the 72-year-old man was arrested at Odofin Camp, Uso, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State with about 2,000 kilograms of drug and that the university students belong to the American University of Nigeria, (AUN) Yola, Adamawa state and the University of Maiduguri, Borno state.

Babafemi said one Okorie Onyeribe was arrested at the MMIA on December 3, attempting to export 21.85 kilograms marijuana concealed in foodstuffs to London.

The Spokesman also stated that two students, Emmanuel Thlama and Jonah Joshua among others were arrested with 16.750 kilograms of Indian hemp when NDLEA operatives raided a settlement opposite Gate 4 of the University of Maiduguri.
