The Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF has demanded an audit of the six hundred and fourteen billion naira bailout funds from the Federal Government as a condition for the repayment of the loan.
The Forum’s Chairman and Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi said that it was important that an audit and reconciliation of accounts on the bailout fund is carried out between the federal and state governments, as a pre-condition for repayment.
In a communiqué issued after the meeting between the Governors and the Federal Government finance team, the chairman said governors have never been opposed to payment of loans, and they do not want a situation that their banking and financial system will be in threat.
The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, at the Public Consultation Forum on the draft 2020-2022 Medium Term Expenditure Framework in Abuja on September 10th, said the deductions will begin in two weeks, that is as from September 27th.
