Some Civil Society Organisations have appealed to the Kaduna State Government to release the 152.4 million naira approved as grant for Local Government Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability, LFTAS programme.
The Organisations, under the Local Government Accountability Mechanism, LGAM, made the appeal at a news conference held in Kaduna on Monday.
They were represented by Yusuf Goje of the Coalition of Associations for Leadership, Peace, Empowerment and Development and Godwin Akau, Community Development Charter Champion. Others were Abdul Usman, President, Campaign for Democracy and Sumayya Hussaini of LGAM, Igabi local government area. Goje, who read the statement on behalf of the organisations explained that the amount was approved in 2019 for the payment of 2018 performance assessment of the LFTAS programme across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
The Local Government Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability initiative was introduced by the Kaduna State Government to entrench fiscal discipline, sustainability and quality service delivery at Local Government Area level.
