The Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON has called on security agencies to enforce the Federal High Court order authorising its Interim Management Committee, IMC to run its affairs.
ALGON Secretary General, Muhammed Abubakar, made the appeal at a news conference in Abuja while speaking on the leadership crises rocking the association.
He noted that the appeal had become necessary, especially as the Kolade Alabi-led faction of ALGON refused to allow the Interim Management Committee assume office as directed by the court.
According to Abubakar, the Interim Committee was harassed by the Alabi-led faction of ALGON in spite of the court order, adding that the intervention of security agencies will help to avoid further crises in the association.
The Scribe said the court order dated August 6, had not been appealed nor vacated and still subsists, adding that that ALGON General Assembly which was its highest organ constituted the IMC to carry out its functions for a six months period, and to conduct an election to enthrone new leadership for it.
He explained that the Interim Management Committee had to go to court following the resistance of the Kolade Alabi-led faction of the association to vacate the position it illegally occupied.
