The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, Super Tucano fighter jets have killed two Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, commanders on the shores of Lake Chad in Borno State.

The commanders, Bello and Amir Musa Modu, were neutralised in a coordinated joint military airstrike on the fringes of Lake Chad.

The Theatre Commander, North-East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Ali, coordinated the NAF intensive effort alongside with ground troops in continuation of Operation Warun III.

The onslaught was designed to annihilate Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in the North-East region of the country.

Also, a military source in Maiduguri said that a ground assessment from the spots of the air interdiction showed that scores of the terrorists and the two commanders were killed in the process.

According to the source, other surviving terrorists fled with sustained wounds towards the Tudun Wulgo/Ngilewa axis in the border areas with Cameroun.
