The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Umaru Muri says several of the people behind the killings in the Kajuru Local Government Area have been arrested.
He made this known after a meeting between the Governor, Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, security chiefs, Adara and Fulani leaders over the continuous attacks in Kajuru. Violent attacks in some communities in Kajuru have resulted in the loss of many lives and property.
The Commissioner however, refused to disclose the number of suspects arrested, but cautioned against reprisals, saying that cannot solve the problem and all concerned should desist from it. Both the Adara and Fulani have been cautioned not to take the laws into their own hands.
According to the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union SOKAPU, the latest attacks claimed 27 lives in Gonar-Rogo, Idanu and Makyali. However, the police said only 15 people were killed, with other five sustaining various degrees of injury.
The Speaker, Kaduna State House of Assembly Zailani, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan; and representative of the Chikun/Kajuru in the House of Representatives, Umar Barde, also joined the meeting chaired by El-Rufai at the Government House in Kaduna.
