About 22 persons, commonly women and children, have been allegedly killed Wednesday night, with many persons still missing for as bandicts again attacked four Atyap villages in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The villages includes; Apyiashyim, Atak’mawai, Kibori, and Kurmin-Masara all in Atyap Chiefdom.

A resident of Atak’mawai village, Irimiya Gandu, who confirmed the incident, said about 13 persons were killed and many houses burnt down. He added that the gunmen arrived the area around 1am when most of the villagers have fallen asleep.

Another resident from Apiashyim community, Jonathan Ishaya said six persons were killed during the attack in his community and the village almost razed. He added that the gunmen stormed the community heavily armed at around 11pm on Wednesday and started shooting sporadically. Ishaya said in Kibori, six persons were killed and many houses burnt while in Atak Mawai Zango, three people were confirmed killed and houses burnt. It was also gathered that two herdsmen were attacked on Tuesday while rearing their cattle at Gora Gan village in Zangon Kataf LGA.

However, the Kaduna State Police Command is yet to comment on the incident.
