Some advocates for gender equality on Friday called for community engagement in curbing the increasing incidents of gender-based violence in the country.
They made the call at a workshop on “Community Dialogue on Gender-Based Violence”, organised for young in Lagos.
The workshop was organised in collaboration with Young African Leaders Initiative Network, a U.S. initiative.
Speaking, the Founder, Across All Initiative for Mental Health and Stigma Eradication, Seun Dosunmu, noted there was need to change the narrative on how women and men were treated.
He called on policymakers to be proactive in addressing issues surrounding GBV in the country.
According
to him, research shows that one in three women in their lifetime will
experience gender-based violence and currently, about 80 million women have
experienced some form of GBV.
