The House of Representatives, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila says the National Assembly lacks institutional memory to keep a comprehensive document of its happenings and long history.
He said this at the weekend in Lagos at the conclusion of a two-day special seminar organised for chairmen of standing and special committees, with the theme: “Improving Legislative Performance Through Effective Committee Management”.
The Speaker stated that archiving and record-keeping within the National Assembly still falls below the standards required.
He noted that the House would build a befitting library for the National Assembly, to provide all the necessary information for Nigerians on the activities of legislature in the democratic processes.Gbajabiamila urged members to hold the executive accountable by discharging their responsibilities through good legislations and oversight functions
