The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, Zubairu Muazu, has said a 24-hour patrol and surveillance would be carried out on riverine communities in Lagos State, as part of security measures put in place to ensure a violence-free elections in Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections.

He also disclosed that the suspected leader of the thugs that disrupted the Presidential and National Assembly elections in Okota area of Lagos, Demola, did not abscond from the hospital, as widely speculated.

Muazu stated that Demola and other suspects, arrested in connection with elections offences two weeks ago, have been transferred to the Force headquarters, Abuja, following the Inspector General of Police directive.

Briefing journalists on the Command’s preparedness towards Saturday’s elections, Muazu informed that the command had reviewed and redoubled its strategies to ensure the safety of Lagosians, even as he urged everyone, irrespective of his tribe to go out and exercise his civil responsibility come Saturday, without fear of harassment.
