The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP has called on the International Criminal Court, ICC to probe the persistent crimes of corruption, violence, and killings during elections in Nigeria.

It added that most recently in Bayelsa and Kogi States, specifically, involvement of All Progressives Congress, APC, and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, officials.

SERAP furthermore urged the Court to investigate whether the recurrent failure of the Nigerian Government to address the crimes amount to violence against the citizens and crimes against humanity within the jurisdiction of the ICC.

The Rights Group’s Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare in a petition addressed to ICC Prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda to push for those suspected to be responsible for these crimes, mostly security, officials of the two main political parties, APC,  PDP and other actors who contributed to the corruption, violence and killings during the elections in Bayelsa and Kogi states.
