Eagles Too Slow Against Cape Verde, Laments Rohr

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has admitted his team lacked pace in their final Group C fixture against Cape Verde.

The Eagles reached the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifying play-offs despite being held 1-1 by the Blue Sharks at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.

Rohr’s side finished with 13 points from six games, two ahead of Cape Verde, who finished second in the group.

Speaking with newsmen, the 68-year-old said the three-time African champions needed to be quicker in their transition from defence.

Rohr also believes that the partnership of Odion Ighalo and Victor Osimhen will be formidable ahead of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
