Nigeria’s Under-17 women’s football team, the Flamingos, who returned from their historic outing at the just-concluded World Cup. The team finished in third place in the competition, played in India.
The Flamingos were received by football stakeholders, before proceeding to a reception held for them by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development Sunday Dare in Abuja.
He commended their efforts in making Nigeria reach its first-ever semi-final stage of the competition as well as winning the bronze medals.
The Minister also appreciated the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF for the preparations and for making sure the girls went through the right of passage for the qualifiers.
In response, NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau thanked Dare for his support and pledged that his administration would turn around for the better the fortunes of Nigerian football.
