As coronavirus berths in Nigeria, the Federal and Lagos State Governments have assured that the victim, an Italian is in a stable condition and is being treated and monitored in a facility in Lagos.

The Minister of Health Osagie Ehanire and Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Sanwo-Olu gave these assurances in Abuja and Lagos respectively while briefing the media.

Ehanire said the ministry has been in contact with the airlines which the victim travelled into the country, tracing of all those who had contact with him to quarantine them for possible infection and ensure their status. 

Sanwo-olu on his part said the patient is in isolation at a facility in the state where he is being attended to by professionals.

The governor assured that the patient is in stable condition and said no need for Nigerians to panic but sustain hygiene.  Sanwo-Olu said the Government under his leadership through the state ministry of health, has been strengthening measures to ensure that any outbreak in Lagos is quickly controlled and contained in collaboration with the multi-sectoral Coronavirus Preparedness Group, led by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
