The Zamfara State Government says so far 2,155 victims of banditry and kidnapping have rescued in the state between September 2021 and January this year.
Commissioner for Information Ibrahim Dosara, who made this known in Gusau, noted that the effort was achieved through partnership with security forces deployed to the state. He added that the rescued victims, including school students, pupils, women and children, had since been reunited with their loved ones.
According to Dosara, Governor Bello Matawalle has being working to restore law and order in the state despite the challenges.
The Commissioner also recalled that the Governor had briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on all measures being taken by the Zamfara government to address the security challenges, including several meetings he held in Niamey with Niger Republic’s President Mohamed Bazoum on December 14, 2021, as part of efforts to end all forms of banditry in the two countries.
Matawalle however advised residents to shun rumour-mongering especially in social media, as this type of attitude could only compound the situation in the state.
