The Confederation of African Football, CAF, is set to apply the use of Video Assistant Referee, VAR, for all underage and inter-club competitions in 2023. The 2023 Africa Under-17 Cup of Nations will be hosted by Algeria, while Egypt will host the Under-20 championship.

It added that VAR will be present at all venues of the under-age tournaments while it will be introduced to the inter-club competitions from the quarter-finals stage.

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles have already qualified for both competitions.

The Olympic Eagles will battle Guinea for a place in the 2023 Africa Under-23 Cup of Nations hosted by Morocco.

Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, champions Rivers United are in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
