Yellow fever virus has killed ten persons in different communities of Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

It was gathered that two health workers at the Tipchi Primary Health Care Centre, have been infected with the disease which also affected communities of Tipchi, Deru, Sabon Gari, Tudun Wada and Barawo, of which are under Burra District in Ningi Local Government Area.

One of the affected workers at the Tipchi Primary Health Care Centre, who pleaded anonymity, said he is currently down with high fever, and cannot work, while his colleague too is also down. He said the outbreak started about four weeks ago and the centre reported the issue to the local government primary health care department.

A community leader in Tipchi village, Ilya said that about ten persons died of the disease in Tipchi and neighbouring village.  

He also appealed to the state government and other relevant agencies to refer a team of experts to ascertain the nature of the ailment for prompt intervention so as curtail the number of casualties.
