The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association is set to vaccinate over 100,000 dogs to commemorate 2021 World Rabies Day, with the theme: “Rabies: Facts, not Fear’’.
Spokesperson of the Association Gloria Daminabo told newsmen in Abuja that the mass vaccination would hold alongside public enlightenment to assist in rabies reduction. She added that the World Rabies Day allowed the association to fulfill its mission by raising awareness on rabies, its effects and how it could be prevented.
Gloria explained that the association is carrying out public enlightenment that will include mass dog vaccination in the 36 states of the federation and the federal Capital territory, FCT to mark the 2021 Day.
According to her, the association will continue to play its advocacy and professional role in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to raise awareness on rabies, its effects and prevention.
World Rabies Day is commemorated annually on September 28 as an international awareness campaign coordinated by Global Alliance for Rabies Control.
