Coach, Finidi George, says the Super Eagles must fight back and start to win games.
Finidi, while speaking after the surprise 2-1 loss to the Republic of Benin in a 2026 World Cup qualifier played in Abidjan, urged for commitment from his players.
Sounding defiant in the face of what appears like an uphill task for Nigeria to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, Finidi said Nigeria cannot give up, as the Eagles have three points from four matches.
In another development, the Guild of Sports Editors, has advised the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF to ensure the qualification of the Super Eagles to the 2026 World Cup finals to be held in Canada and Mexico.
The body comprising managers of sports units in the country’s major media organizations, said it viewed with dismay the poor performance of the Eagles in the ongoing qualifying series for the World Cup, adding it is unacceptable that Nigeria is struggling in fifth position in a group that houses Lesotho, Rwanda, Benin Republic, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
