Former Nigerian international Yakubu Ayegbeni is optimistic that the Super Eagles will qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals in Qatar.
This is coming after Nigeria was defeated 1-0 by the Central African Republic in a Group-C match last Thursday. However, the Eagles got their revenge on Sunday as they secured a 2-0 win over Central African away goals from Leon Balogun and Victor Osimhen.
Nigeria are placed at the top of the group standings, two points above second-placed Cape Verde and only the group winners will advance to the next round.
Ayegbeni, however, believe that the Super Eagles have enough quality to qualify for next year’s tournament.
In another development, Nigeria’s Super Falcons are preparing for their 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON qualifying fixture against the Black Queens of Ghana when they arrive camp in Lagos on Sunday.
Nigeria and Ghana clashed in the Final match in 1998, which the Falcons won 2-0. However, both strong stallions race-course have been drawn to play each other for one slot at the next edition to be held in the summer of 2022 in Morocco.
