
The Federal Government has challenged local government councils to explore the enormous opportunities from its policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of people at grassroots.
Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, gave the advice at the opening of the Association of Local Governments in Nigeria, ALGON Made-in-Nigeria Exhibition/Trade Fair in Abuja, with the theme, “Nigeria’s Third Tier of Governance as the Stimulant for Cohesion, Unity, Economic Growth and Development” is part of the activities to commemorate the Nigeria at 61 Diamond Jubilee Celebration.
Adebayo also charged local governments to promote the development of agricultural value chains that would produce goods for export, attract investment and stimulate economic growth.
In his remarks, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha called on members of ALGON to put their difference aside and work for the common good of all.
Mustapha, represented by the Special Assistant to the Permanent Secretary Political and Economic Affairs, Ariyo Benjamin, noted that by so doing local governments would make meaningful contribution to governance in the country.
