Kaduna Electric has disconnected electricity supply to the Kaduna State Government House and other state government facilities due to unpaid bills totaling 2.9billion naira.

A statement by the Head, Corporate Communication, AbdulAzeez Abdullahi, noted that Kaduna Electric made repeated attempts to resolve the issue, including consultations with state officials, before issuing a disconnection notice on July 21.

Newsmen reports that the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service sealed the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company over a 600 million naira tax liability.

Speaking to newsmen after the exercise in the early hours of Friday, the Executive Chairman of KADIRS, Jerry Adams, said the operation was an execution of a court order to restrain KAEDCO over the liability due to the state.

Countering,  the Kaduna Electric in a statement added that the outstanding balance for electricity consumed by the kaduna state government from January 2024 to July 2024 alone amounted to over One Billion naira.
