Nigeria’s Olympics Eagles thrashed Zambia 3-1 yesterday in their Group-B match day two of the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Patson Daka put Zambia ahead in the 12th minute before Orji Okonkwo’s 16thminute equaliser. Also an excellent free-kick by Kelechi Nwakali gave Nigeria the lead in the 65th minute and Taiwo Awoniyi scored the third goal in additional time.

After the win, Nigeria now place second in Group-B with three points. South Africa now top Group-B with four points after securing a draw against Zambia and defeating Ivory Coast 1-0.

In another development, the AfroBasket 2019 champions, Nigeria is leaving nothing to chance in her effort to pick a ticket for the Tokyo 2020 pre-Olympics qualifiers as Coach Otis Hughley and his technical crew is hopeful of a good run with the 13 invited players now in Mozambique.

Coach Hughley and his crew are in high spirits after the two training sessions, following the arrival of some key players.
