President Muhammadu Buhari has called on Benue and Taraba state governments to exercise restraint following the killing of Reverend Father David Tanko in Kpankufu Village, Wukari, Taraba state.
The President who made the call in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu also directed the Taraba, Benue State Governors and other stakeholders to meet immediately to bring an end to the incessant clashes between Jukun and Tiv people.
He said the stakeholders included traditional rulers, the Tor Tiv and the Aku-Uka of Wukari, religious and community leaders in the two states.
According to the President, the murder of the Catholic Priest highlights the urgency of addressing the persistent conflict.
He described such act of human destruction, violent attacks on people and property in the communities by the warring parties as unacceptable.
