The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesome Wike expressed his desire for an expanded business partnership between Nigeria and India to encourage more Indian businesses to invest in the Federal Capital Territory.

The FCT Minister made this disclosure when he received the Indian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Shri G. Balasubramanian, who had paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesome Wike disclosed his desire for an expanded business partnership between Nigeria and India to encourage more Indian businesses to invest in the Federal Capital Territory.

Barrister Nyesome Wike acknowledged the warm relationship between India and Nigeria and the massive Indian business presence in Nigeria, he said he would like to see a steady growth in Indian investments in the Federal Capital Territory.

The Minister gave the assurance that the FCT is adequately secured and that all necessary groundwork are in place for businesses to flourish in the nation’s capital.

In his words, the Minister said that, “I know that India has a huge presence in Nigeria, in terms of companies, particularly Indorama (Eleme Petrochemicals Ltd), when I was Governor. That’s one of the biggest petrochemicals in West Africa, and then in terms of fertilizer. It’s a huge investment and we would also like to have that kind of relationship with you in Abuja”.

In addressing the Minister, the Indian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. G. Balasubramanian acknowledged the wonderful and long-established diplomatic and trade relations between India and Nigeria.

Finally, The Minister recognized the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to improve bilateral relations between India and Nigeria. He promised that the FCT shall continue to ensure that the environment is favorable for foreign missions to carry out their activities in the FCT.
