Terrorisms: Military To Arraign Surrendered Boko Haram Members

Military authorities have said that plans to prosecute surrendered boko haram members, other terrorists in the North-east and promised to stop the recruitment drive of the Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP in the region.

It would be recalled that about 1,200 insurgents recently surrendered to troops with their families amid protests from North-east communities that the claims of repentance might not be genuine and the danger the likely return of the insurgents posed.

The Commander of Operation Hadin Kai Major General Christopher Musa, while speaking in Maiduguri, Borno state said the military is working within the ambit of international laws and maintained that the law would take its cause.

He added that the military is doing all within laws in the handling of Boko Haram and the trial of the terrorists against the backdrop of the recent mass surrender of the insurgents.

Also, Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, while commenting during a media tour of troops in the frontlines, said the objective of the visit was to review the wrong narratives about the surrendered Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists
