President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration will leave about 22,000 megawatts, installed capacity of the nation’s electricity by 2023.

Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, stated this at the Presidential Scorecard of his Ministry in Abuja, an annual event where the various Ministries present their achievements to the media and the general public.

He added that the administration had embarked on several transformational projects to bequeath an additional 4,000 megawatts generating capacity to the existing megawatts.

Aliyu also noted that as part of the plans to achieve the 4,000 additional megawatts, the 700 megawatts Zungeru Hydro-Power Plant would be completed in the first quarter of 2023.

The Minister stressed that the administration would work toward operationalisation of the 240 megawatts Afam-3 and 300 megawatts Okpai Phase-2, among others.

According to him, there are on-going programmes with facilities and investments, secured at more than three billion dollars, to eliminate the gap between transmission capacity and supplied energy.
