The National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE has instructed its members to withdraw their services nationwide over the fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government.
Acting General Secretary, Dominic Igwebike, in a notice, urged NUEE members to comply with the order and stop work from the early hours of Wednesday.
President Bola Tinubu, in his inaugural address on May 29th, declared the petroleum subsidy regime over as it was no longer sustainable.
It could be recalled that following the announcement, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, on Wednesday directed its outlets nationwide to sell fuel between 480 and 570 naira per litre, an almost 200 percent increase from the initial price below 200 naira.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, in its reaction, said it would embark on a nationwide protest next Wednesday if the NNPCL refuses to reverse the new price regime in the oil sector.
