A shocking event happened at University of Benin (UNIBEN) following the death of Augustine Izu, a final year student of Political Science
The Edo police command spokesman, Bello Kontongs, disclosed this on Wednesday in Benin as he also confirmed the shooting of Joshua Oginigbo, a Computer Engineering student of the institution.
The spokesman assured the public that the police would do their best to bring the assaulters to book.
The student was killed by unknown gunmen some hours after writing his final examination on Thursday.
The gunmen, four and fully masked up followed him to his off-campus hostel at 5, Image Street, off Federal Road,Ugbowo, Benin, who then shot him in his apartment, the act was carried out in presence of the deceased’s friend, Emeka Walter, who was lucky the gunmen only shot him in the arm. Mr Oginigbo was shot in the head on Tuesday by unknown gunmen around the June 12 Secretariat on the campus. The victim is in critical condition and receiving treatment at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.
Information was gathered that both shootings were cult-related.
