Some gunmen killed two persons and burnt many houses in an attacked on a community in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of the Kaduna state, just 24 hours after Southern Kaduna peace summit.
The summit was organised by the National Christian Pilgrims Commission, NCPC in conjunction with inter-faith groups in Kafanchan on Thursday called for immediate end to killings, attacks, kidnappings and rustling in the region.
The Southern Kaduna People’s Union, SOKAPU in a statement signed by its National Public Relations Officer Luka Binniyat, however said gunmen invaded Manyi-Mashin village in the early hours of Friday killing two persons, burning many houses and carting away valuables.
The statement added that the two persons who were burnt beyond recognition are Cecilia Ishaya mother of six children and Iliya Sunday, who left behind eight children.
It however said though men of Operation Safe Heaven, OPSH promptly responded, the militia fled before their arrival and also recalled that on September 8th some militia laid ambush for three Atyap youths from Atakmawei in same Zamandabo Ward in Atyap Chiefdom, as they went to clear weed in their sugarcane farm.
SOKAPU also called on the Federal Government, through Operation Safe Heaven, under the command of Major General Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, to expatiate action and bring to book all the militias that are currently occupying 101 Southern Kaduna Communities in four of the Local Government Areas.
